Celestial Dolphins Raku Urn

Dolphins arc across the front of this hand-fired Raku urn, 7.5 inches wide and 8 inches tall, over a glaze that fires to deep blue and copper with a fine crackle throughout. The Raku process leaves every surface a little different, so the water behind the dolphins never looks quite the same twice. It opens at the top.

The urn takes an adult volume and is intended for indoor display. Families with a connection to the ocean often choose it when they want to keep the ashes at home rather than scatter them. Set it somewhere stable, because ceramic this size does not survive a fall, and lift the lid clear when you fill it — the job takes a minute.
