Key to Heaven Keepsake

Shaped like an old door key, an inch and five eighths long, in stainless steel. It hangs vertically rather than sitting flat against the chest, which reads more like everyday jewelry than most memorial pieces manage to do.

A quarter of a cubic inch fits inside the shaft. That is a keepsake portion of ashes — the rest belongs in a full-size urn, in the ground, or scattered. Filling is done from an opening on the underside near the bow, so the front face stays unbroken. Use a small funnel, and have a jeweler seal the threads if the wearer is a child or someone very active.
