Green stone, heart cut, set into a polished stainless steel body about an inch tall. May's birthstone is emerald and the color here is deliberately deep rather than pale. The heart is the only ornament; everything else is plain steel, which keeps the piece from reading as costume jewelry.
What goes inside is a small measure of ashes, added through the top. This is a keepsake, not a container for a full set of ashes, and that distinction catches people out more than any other in this category. A full-size urn, a burial or a scattering still needs to be decided separately. Once filled, the top screws back on; adhesive on the threads makes it permanent if you would rather not risk it opening.
