Montgomery Wood Urn

Taller than it is wide, this wood urn stands 11.5 inches on a 7.5 by 6.5 inch footprint, so it takes up less shelf than the usual chest shape does. The finish is a warm natural stain that shows the grain rather than hiding it under heavy lacquer.

Inside there are 220 cubic inches, which covers an adult up to about 220 pounds using the standard one-inch-per-pound rule. It loads from the base: the bottom panel comes away, the bag goes in, and the panel goes back. That keeps the top and front clear for an engraved plate or a name.
