Mother of Pearl Simple Gold Steel Keepsake

Iridescent mother of pearl fills the face of this heart pendant, shifting its color as the light moves across the shell. The surround is gold-plated steel, kept deliberately plain so the shell does the work. It measures an inch wide and three quarters of an inch tall.

Inside is a small chamber for a portion of ashes. It is not sized for a full set, and it is not meant to be: the rest usually stays in a larger urn or is scattered. The opening is at the top, reached by unscrewing the fitting at the bail, and a funnel makes short work of filling it.
