Marble gives this small urn its weight and its veining, and each one differs slightly because the stone is cut rather than cast. It measures six inches long, four and a half deep and seven high — small enough to hold in two hands. The base plate comes away for filling, so the top and the sides stay uninterrupted.

Eighteen cubic inches is the capacity. Applying the usual one cubic inch per pound of body weight, that suits an infant or a very small child up to about 18 lb.
