Salzburg Life Chest

Wide and low, the Salzburg is a chest rather than an urn shape — 24 inches across and 17.5 inches tall, with a hinged top that opens onto the whole interior at once. It is built to hold ashes together with the other things a death leaves behind: photographs, letters, a watch, a folded flag.

No capacity figure is published for the interior, so if the ashes are going inside, measure the crematory container before ordering rather than assuming it will drop in. The chest is meant to live in the open, on a sideboard or a low shelf where the family can lift the lid. Wood marks, so keep it off a sunny windowsill and away from a radiator.
