Sea Turtles Raku Urn

Sea turtles glide across the glazed body of this Raku urn, 7.5 inches across by 8 inches tall, on a ground that fires to blue-green and copper with the crackle Raku is known for. The motif is worked into the glaze during firing, which is why the outlines soften a little from urn to urn. It loads through the top.

Sized for an adult, it is a display piece for indoors: a mantel, a shelf, the top of a cabinet. The ceramic wall is thick but still breakable, so this is not the right pick if the ashes will be transported or eventually buried. Filling is simple. Lift the lid, place the bag inside, put the lid back.
