Like all cremation jewelry, it takes a token amount only: a pinch of ashes, a lock of hair, a little soil from a grave. It will not hold a full portion. Most people fill it once, using the small funnel that comes in the box, then ask a jeweler to seal the threads with a drop of adhesive so it can be worn daily without worry.
