Turtle Silver Pendant Urn

The turtle on this pendant is worked in the round rather than cut flat: a segmented shell, four short legs, and a head pushed out from under the front edge. It is an inch across in silver. People buy it for someone who kept turtles, who dove, or who was known in the family for never being hurried.

It loads from the back, so the threaded plug faces in toward the body and nothing interrupts the shell. Capacity is about a quarter of a cubic inch, a token portion rather than a full set, and at this price it is one of the easier pieces to buy for several relatives at once. The shell segments are raised, so engraving works better on the underside.
