Walsh Urn

Low and wide where most adult urns are tall, the Walsh measures 8.75 inches long, 5.75 deep and just 4.75 high, all in brass. It is the shape to reach for when the space you have is a bookshelf or a niche with a low opening rather than an open mantel. Sitting down like that, it also reads less like an urn to visitors who do not know what it is.

Filling is done from underneath, through a threaded plate in the base, so the top surface stays unbroken. Capacity is 200 cubic inches, which suits an adult up to about 200 lb on the standard one-inch-per-pound rule. Turn it over on a towel when you fill it and take the plate off slowly.
