Western Garden Raku Urn

Western Garden is a hand-fired Raku urn, 8.5 inches across and 8 inches tall, with a desert-toned glaze and a crackled surface that comes out of the firing rather than from a pattern applied afterward. Raku work is pulled from the kiln while still glowing, so the metallic sheen and the crazing land differently on every piece. The lid lifts off the top.

The body is adult-size, with a rounded profile that suits a mantel or a bookshelf more than a niche with tight dimensions. Ceramic is the thing to weigh: it is not built for burial or for being carried around, and it should sit where it will not get knocked. If the ashes need to travel, choose metal or wood instead.
