Wider than it is deep and only 6 inches tall, the Whitney reads as a low walnut box, 9 inches across and 7 front to back. The wood is left to speak for itself: no carving, no inlay, just walnut's darker heartwood and the grain that comes with it.
It holds 220 cubic inches, which covers an adult up to around 220 pounds. Filling is done from underneath through the bottom opening, then the urn goes back on the shelf the right way up. The low, wide footprint is easier to place beside framed photographs than an upright urn, and it is stable enough to leave on a mantel without worry.
