Eighteen inches of chime hang below a small chamber at the top, so this one lives outdoors on a porch hook or a low branch rather than on a shelf. It is a keepsake, which means it takes a token portion of ashes and nothing close to a full set. Families usually fill it and keep the rest elsewhere.
The maker does not publish a capacity for the chamber, so plan on a spoonful rather than a measured amount. Hang it where it gets moving air but not the worst of the weather, and bring it in before a hard winter if you want the finish to stay bright. A jeweller can seal the threads with adhesive if you would rather it never opened again.
