Lighter and more casual than walnut, oak urns bring a warm, familiar tone that works well in almost any home.
Oak is light in the hand as well as in color, which suits a shelf or a mantel rather than a burial. Keep it out of direct sun and away from damp, since wood moves with humidity and a finish will fade over years in a window. Capacity works as it does elsewhere: roughly one cubic inch per pound of body weight before death, so a 190 lb adult needs about 190 cu in. Most oak urns fill through a base panel and engrave well.
